Saison Day: April 14, 2018

Thanks for your interest in Saison Day here at Birds Fly South Ale Project. If you’re reading this, you likely have some questions about the event this Saturday. Don’t worry, we’re here to help you figure it out.

What is Saison Day all about?

This event marks a celebration of the tradition of Saison, meaning “season” in French, beer!  We are honored to be a host for the 2018 Allagash Saison Day here in the Birdhouse. This year’s event in Greenville marks the first time Saison Day has been celebrated in South Carolina! We’ve worked with Allagash Brewing Co. to put together a curated tap list of 60+ of the best saisons from 25+ breweries around the country.  OMG tell me about all of these amazing people and their tasty creations, immediately.

Will I need a ticket to drink at the brewery on Saturday?

Yes! The event is open to the public but *does* require a ticket. This means our front and back bars will not be open for regular tasting room service. Tickets are $20 and include entry, 21+ wristband, official Birds 6oz tasting glass, two beer tokens, and an event guide. 1 token = 1 pour at any bar or beer station. Yes, I’m so in, take me to ticketing heaven.

Ok but what does it really cost to enjoy the day?

The general ticket gets you two brews to start the afternoon. Here’s the great part: you can spend as much, or as little, as you’d like after that! It all depends on the quantity of beer you want to drink throughout the event. With additional tokens available for $3/each you can buy them as you get thirst. Remember, 1 token = 1 beer, nice and simple.

Can I bring my kids? What about my doggo?

Yes, we love kids! They are welcome to join you at this seasonal celebration. Please keep in mind this is a working production facility with lots of equipment, bottles, and people. Keep a close eye on your kids throughout your visit. We love leashed, well-behaved doggos but do prefer they not come inside on big event days. With the extra bodies and setup it can get a little chaotic for pets. Your furry friend is always welcome to enjoy our biergarten and large lawn area.

Do you have designated driver tickets?

Thank you for staying safe out there! We always appreciate when visitors use Uber, Lyft, and carpooling to enjoy their visit to the Birdhouse. That said we don’t offer any special ticketing for designated drivers, gluten-free folks, pregnant mamas, or anyone else. We keep the basic ticket price really low so that anyone can come enjoy the day without feeling like they’re paying for beers they can’t even enjoy!

What about my spaceship, where do I park that?

Speaking of safe driving, let’s talk some transportation truth. Birds Fly South is located at Hampton Station, a rad mixed-use complex just outside of downtown Greenville. Parking is available but becomes very limited on event days. Free options for parking include the small lot attached to the brewery, the overflow lot behind the building, and any city and county parking on the streets nearby.

Looking for additional options? Smart thinking. The grass and gravel lots near the brewery are privately owned and often used as paid parking on event days. They will be marked accordingly and typically run about $5 per car. Ride share services like Uber and Lyft are great, affordable options that give you door-to-door service. Feeling like an outdoor adventure? Hit the Swamp Rabbit Trail on your bike! The trailway is paved and runs from Traveler’s Rest through downtown Greenville, right behind Hampton Station.

Bringing the spaceship? The roof is ready flockers. Take us to your leader.
